Light-right?

This is the result of another 120 minutes of work. It is coming together but I need to find a way to get more of a diffuse glow on the various layers of "lamp-shade". I'd like to get more funky than the existing series of tubes but want to get the light right first. I'm thinking more glowing surfaces are in order.

I think you're right, the lighting needs to glow more; the object itself does not project much light other than out of the top. If the light could come through more in other places I think the fixture would feel more dimensional.

Erik,

Your light is working well so far. I can totally see it being mass produced and marketed as a new kind of task AND ambient light. With several of the little guys scattered around a room, the effect might be like that of a candle-filled space.

Also, with just one of them on a desk, I think it may act well as a direct task light source.

For both functions, however, I think you're right: more glowing surfaces are in order. Good work thus far.

Cheers,

Jeff
